When I first got my Uggs I thought, “Hey, where can I NOT wear these things?” I looked up the maps for clear coverage in my area to see which park to visit in the dead of winter and decided my fuzzy boots would be great on a hike. Take it from me, your Uggs just aren’t as utilitarian as you think so here are a few places NOT to wear the boots
To a Lake: Your Uggs don’t like moisture – it’s just a fact. They’ll mildew and actually get pretty grimy if you allow them to get wet and not dry so try to keep them as clean as possible.
In the Woods: Bet you didn’t know there were so many sharp, prickly things in the woods! The nature of how Ugg boots fit allow tons of tiny items to fall down in the top of the boots – this is less comfortable than you might think.
A Christmas Party: Okay, so this isn’t a utility thing but Ugg boots aren’t dressy. They shouldn’t be worn with a suit or a dress and they’re not appropriate formal wear.

Fads and new fashions are not some recent phenomenon. As long as people have had access to clothing, cars and other disposable items they have made those items popular or not. One of the most recent and longstanding fads is Ugg Boots. These boots are likely to be found in mass at any place of worship, school, work, and even play. They offer extreme comfort, warmth, and a sense of fashion that makes them marketable to multiple generations at a time.

Ugg Boots carry a fad-type following but they are able to cross into worldwide popularity. Many clothing or shoe crazes are built to an age specific crowd. For instance, something that a popular boy-band wears is probably going to be a big hit in elementary and middle school but not with college-age students or parents. This is where Uggs are different than many shoe and clothing fads. You are likely to see Uggs worn by anyone from elementary school all the way to a senior citizen center.

Uggs are able to be purchased in many different stores. Of course you can go online and purchase Uggs also. Stores like: Neiman Marcus, Dillards, Nordstrom’s, Macy’s, and Bloomingdale’s. They are not boots than can be found at Wal-Mart or Super K-Mart. Ugg boots are considered slightly pricey but the comfort, reputation, and reliability is worth the investment based on staying warm, convenience, and durability. Uggs are made from premium sheepskin with a fleece lining on the inside. The soles are usually made from a synthetic material with nylon stitching. Uggs actually have been made since the 1970s but have not really received worldwide fame until the late 2000s.

Whatever your preference for boots is, consider purchasing a pair of Ugg Boots. The warmth and quality cannot be beat and you will be involved in one of the hottest fashion fads of the 21st century.

When people think of Uggs, what usually comes to mind are those comfy sheepskin boots that everybody seems to be wearing. But there’s actually lots more variations on the Ugg style than one would imagine.

First, there are Ugg boots; which alone come in not just a variety of styles but also colors and sizes. Ugg boots come in tall, short, and even three quarter length. Colors include tan, pink, red, green, black and just about any other you can think of. Ugg boots can be made of different materials. Though sheepskin is the original classic, there are leather, suede, and even crochet Ugg boots; which are sort of an Ugg and a legwarmer rolled into one. Accessories for Ugg boots include buttons, buckles, zippers, and most commonly fur, or an imitation of some kind.

If you think the different styles stop there, think a gain. Ugg slippers and Ugg clogs have become very popular as well. And there is also the Adirondack Ugg, which is more like a traditional boot, with reinforcement in the toe and heel area, plus more grip on the sole. Uggs are unisex footwear, so whether man, woman or child, absolutely everyone can wear them.

The origins of Ugg boots began down under, but whether Australia or New Zealand started the trend first is still up for debate. What we do know is that sheepskin boots whereabouts were in rural Australia in 1920. We also know manufactured sheepskin boots were being made in 1933 and by the 1950′s another company started making them. The origins of the name “Ugg” came in 1970, around the same time these boots became popular in Australia. The name “Ugg” were names given to these sheepskin boots, even though there are disputes saying that the name was stolen from an earlier time, mainly World War I when they called their boots “fug boots.”

The trademark “UGG” is currently property of Deckers, Inc. Steadman registered the name “ugh boots” in Australia in 1971. Brian Smith brought it to the US in 1979, made a company called Ugg Holdings, Inc., and bought the rights from Steadman. Smith registed the name “Original UGG Boot UGG Australia” in the US in 1985, and then sold his company to Deckers in 1995. It really hit big in the 2000′s.

Ugg Boots actually began in Australia, in the early 60′s. Surfers in the Byron Bay area of eastern Australia began fashioning homemade covers for their feet out of the sheepskin that was very prevalent there. The sheepskin, so comfortable and warm, helped keep away moisture on the chilly evenings by the water.

In 1978, Brian Smith flew to Southern California with some of these boots, which he had named “Uggs”, positive that these boots would also be popular with the U.S. surfing crowd. He was right–they were an immediate hit and by the middle of the 1980′s, they were being sold in surfer shops up and down the California coast. Before long they started branching out into all over, with people of every class buying them up.

Winter brought even more sales of Ugg Boots–ski resorts sold them in their ski shops and they became the “in” boot to wear for comfort and warmth. By the year 2000, they had become widespread across the country, and Ugg Australia was making other types of shoes which, along with their famous boots, became a hot ticket item in the fashion world of New York. Ugg Australia now sells their famous line worldwide.

Ugg Boots are all the rage again this winter so it is time to find the perfect pair! Before you run out and grab the nearest pair though, consider what style is best for you. Ugg Boots come in a variety of Styles and colors and while finding your desired match may take a bit of searching the perfect pair is out there.

The first thing to consider when searching for Ugg Boots is what size you are looking for. No not shoe size, consider the height. Ugg Boots come in Slippers, Mini, Short and Tall heights. If you have a larger calf, it is best to consider a Short, Mini or a Slipper, because the Tall Height do narrow at the top. After you have settled on a height that would be best you can move on to the specific style. Ugg Boots have a classic, a knit, sheepskin, button and sparkly version. When picking out a style think about how often and where you will be wearing your Ugg Boots. The Sheepskin variety while stunning to look out can hold moisture for a long time so they aren’t best to wear in the rain and snow. Happy Hunting!
